In March of 2024, Kingwood accepted the responsibility for the oversight of both the Brazil Church Planting Ministry and the Charlie Huffman Institute of Evangelism, from the Ovilla Church of Christ. The BCPM has its roots back to 1991, when Charlie Huffman first organized it for the purpose of starting churches all over the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais. Seeing the need for Brazilian ministers, Charlie Huffman started the (then-named) Brazil National Bible School, in 1996. It was later renamed the Charlie Huffman Institute of Evangelism, or CHIE, after Charlie’s death. Giovanni Vantuil is the Director of CHIE, and Paul Dawson is its ambassador. In addition to these works, Kingwood fully supports Celio Santos and Delmiro Neto who are ministers in Uberlandia, Brazil, and Ricardo Maia who is support and encouragement, and works with the Church Camp in Belo Horizonte.
In July of 2024, Kingwood accepted the responsibility for the oversight of the Colombia Missions work from the West Olive Church of Christ. Jimmy Pinzon, the Colombia Missions Coordinator, will continue in a similar role at Kingwood, as he and Candice have moved their membership to Kingwood. This continues a long history between Kingwood, and Jimmy and Candice. The specific churches in Colombia are Chia (which is fully self-supported), Zipaquira with Mario Pinzon as the minister, and San Gil where Jorge Quiroga is the minister. Jorge and his wife Rosalba both became Christians at Chia. The churches continue to grow, and plans are underway for the next new church.
Kingwood has worked for many years, in various ways, in Honduras. This includes taking mission groups of 20 to 70 people (mostly youth group) each year to the Tegucigalpa area to visit the women’s prison, the school for the blind, the clinic, and the school of preaching. We also work building houses, distributing food, providing a remote clinic, and interacting with the people. More recently we have worked with Mission Lazarus, which is a Honduras-based organization that strives to glorify God through education and meeting the medical, agricultural, and spiritual needs of the people. Kingwood has sent men’s work groups and other mission groups to help build schools, churches, and living facilities for the families at Mission Lazarus. In 2024, we worked with Breaking Chains doing a lot of the same things our other mission groups have done. Breaking Chains Ministry does a lot of work with the homeless and orphaned youth of Tegucigalpa.
